Basics of My Real Estate
I serve full-time at Garrett Realty Partners & have since May 2014 when I started in the marketing department before transitioning to sales in February 2015. I received awards for sales volume 5 years as of 12/25, however, throughout my career, I have prioritized seeking unmatched service and offerings over sales volume. That helps to explain how I put together the most comprehensive list of programs to reduce home costs privately that I am aware of in Hampton Roads before my 1st volume award.
After my best years by sales volume in 2020 (over 8 million in sales), I was unsatisfied with my service offering. The next year I focused more on improving my service, and my sales volume reduced as a result to over 6 million in sales. In Spring of 2022, I wrote my first blog on this page, and have counterintuitively sacrificed sales volume heavily in order to do research, writing, higher quality service, more area photos for sellers, Matterport Neighborhoods, an introduction of premium multi-format video, better unpublished offerings for buyers, etc. to offer far more today than I did in my best years by volume.

Due to bandwagon effect and high prioritization of recent sales, it will mean that some clients don't work with me, but I'm OK with that. Because of that sacrifice, over 80% of what you see on this site as of September 2025 was published between 2022 & 2025, including the majority of my best published work yet. Today, I am pleased to have available a number of unmatched offerings and resources for buyers and sellers in Central & Eastern VA across the 6 MLS I have access to directly or via co-share. I am passionate about what I do, even if that means taking a dive in sales volume to help buyers and sellers better than I could with less time for them.
Values
I value availability & work around my clients' time frames . I also value a strong work ethic, and saving my clients as much time and money as possible, whether buying or selling. I seek to get sellers a premium on their home while finding great buys for buyers. I will fight for my clients' best interests. I believe that an informed buyer or seller makes the best decisions, and am dedicated to that end, as a brief review of my website as well as my reviews should demonstrate. As a former youth minister of over 4 years, ethics, including but not limited to integrity, are very important to me. As someone with the lowest average rating by clients on any real estate website being a 4.8/5, that scored in the top two percentile in math on the SAT, scored an 80/80 on the Writing Skills PSAT, and attended "The Harvard of Christian Schools" (Wheaton College) with a small academic scholarship, excellence is a top priority for me.

I have access to 4 MLS directly and 2 more indirectly, tailoring which MLS are used based on price and location, with the best quantitative approach I've seen publicly available to noting which are necessary, and with a $300 add on fee, can have access to another MLS that provides up to 100 pictures (while 50 is typically sufficient even when integrating area photos for properties on <.5 ares and >2500 sq ft, a higher max is helpful for high acreage, high square foot, &/or multi-unit properties) and a greater word count max than any of the others, which can autopopulate into many sites better than would be possible if I relied exclusively on local MLS options.

Where I've Lived & Studied
Former residences:
I was born in Hampton and moved back and forth between Hampton and Yorktown growing up, though I have also lived in Richmond, Newport News, Isle of Wight County, & Suffolk. My family has been in VA since 1620.
Former studies in reverse chronological order:
I did my master's (3.85 GPA - practical theology) at Regent University online & on campus in Virginia Beach.
I went to the Moseley Real Estate School in Newport News, VA
I did a year of post-bac studies at Christopher Newport University in Newport News (3.90 GPA - statistics, documentary studies, and 3 sciences)
I went to Wheaton College for my bachelor's degree (Christian Education) in Wheaton, IL
I went to Hampton Roads Academy (HRA) in Newport News for part of middle school and most of high school

Office Locations & Meeting w/ Adam
Most of my dealings with buyers and sellers aren't in an office, but in homes, over the phone, or online via video. When an office or alternative location is needed, I have a number of options. Here are my office locations & related options.

Availability for buyers and sellers is one of my top priorities. However, it's important to note that I reserve real estate on Sundays to limited urgent matters.
Origins
My family has been in Virginia since 1620 & in the real estate business since at least the early 1960's. Both my grandfather and my grandmother were Realtors, followed by my father. My grandmother was an award winning Realtor, including of the prestigious "Emerald" award that is received after 20 years of award winning sales from the Virginia Peninsula Association of Realtors. In some years, there is only 1 recipient of that award. My father received that award, as well many occasions where he was the number 1 Realtor in the Virginia Peninsula Association of Realtors. He leads one of the top 50 Real Estate Teams in the United States (as published in Realtor® Magazine).
I entered the real estate business in May of 2014. I was in the marketing department at Garrett Realty Partners (Greg Garrett Realty at the time) for 9 months prior to transitioning into sales at the company as a Realtor in the beginning of February of 2015. I was a full time Realtor then & continue to be now.
Adam's Education
I graduated from school mostly locally in Hampton (K-5 at Gloria Dei), Newport News (8-12 at Hampton Roads Academy & Moseley Real Estate School), & Virginia Beach (Master's at Regent University). The only exception is my BA at Wheaton College near Chicago.
Support Staff at GRP
While I operate as an individual agent, the other staff, the support staff that I work with are an excellent support structure for purchasing & selling real estate. I will still be your primary point of contact and working with me will not feel like an assembly line, as with certain other companies and agents.

Matching or Surpassing Other Agents
In many areas, the combination of what I offer is unmatched. That said, if you'd like to work with me, but there are incentives like certain forms of marketing or cashback bonuses with another real estate agent that you don't see on my website (i.e. What I Offer Buyers or What I Offer Sellers, reach out to me, and ask me if I'll match it or if it's a standard part of my services, as I usually will match or beat other agents' incentives. In other cases, I can point out the fine print of an agent's incentive where you might not want to sign on the dotted line based on that fine print (i.e. listing agent claims of guaranteed offers).
Personal Life & Volunteering
I am married, a father, a former youth minister, and a member of my church where I volunteer on the pastor's council. My favorite hobby is travel hacking (i.e. using points for flights, hotels, activities, etc.) & I love to share with others how I do it. I love to help the homeless through education, help ministries with travel hacking via education, & otherwise. In the past, I participated in a number of mission trips when time allowed, especially with the organization founded by my father, Orphan Helpers (now Counteract International).
